Jim Carrey finally sells Malibu beach house – a year after putting it on the market. There was nothing funny about Hollywood star Carrey’s attempts to sell his Malibu Colony home. The actor and funnyman first listed the property in June 2011 for a whopping $18 million. The home then went through a series of price cuts and before Carrey took it off the market for a while. Then Carrey relisted it for $13.95 million a year ago. Forunately for Carrey, the closing price was pretty close to that ask. The home sold, according to property records, for $13.4 million. Even at the lower list price, Carrey made a nice profit on the house after purchasing the home for $9.75 million back in 2002. Homes along the Malibu coast are a hot commodity and have hosted stars ranging from the Spielbergs to the uber-rich Larry Ellison, who bought a home for $36 million this past September. However, according to reports, Carrey is no longer interested in the beach life — he’s been avidly checking out real estate in Manhattan. Carrey’s former contemporary home is set up as an entertainer’s estate, with indoor spaces that flow into several decks and patios, all facing the Pacific Ocean. The home is on the smaller side for a Malibu mansion, measuring 2,866 sq ft with three bedrooms and four bathrooms.
